Hospital
The Cooperative purchased the former St. Joseph’s Hospital campus in Chippewa Falls, WI on June 30, 2025 and will operate it as an interim facility while it builds the new, long-term hospital in Lake Hallie.
Now known as the Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital, initial services have opened and are serving patients, and the Cooperative is focused on reopening the facility as a full-service hospital in early 2027.
Once open, the full-service hospital in Chippewa Falls will have:
- 30-bed hospital with 5-bed Intensive Care Unit
- 24/7 Emergency Department
- Medical-surgical services
- Labor and delivery suits
- Comprehensive diagnostic service
- Cancer and Infusion Center
- Advanced Wound Care Center
- Other Specialty Services
The Cancer Center
Opened in November 2025 and has scaled quickly to accommodate patients needing chemotherapy and infusion care services.
The Wound Care Center
Opened in February 2026 offering a wide range of wound care treatments and tripling the capacity for cutting edge hyperbaric chamber therapy in the Chippewa Valley.
Management
The Cooperative is dedicated to lean management and ensuring that maximum resources are directed towards patient care.

The New Hospital
The new state-of-the-art Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital will be built in Lake Hallie, WI – between Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire, with easy access to major north-south and east-west interstate and state highways.
The new nonprofit full-service hospital will be approximately 144,000 square feet and employ over 400 high qualified full time medical professionals.
